Xeround Unveils High Performance Data Management Solution
Xeround Version 2 and Telecom Services Benchmark Demonstrate Massive Linear Scalability and Superior Total Cost of Ownership
Bellevue, WA - January 23, 2008 - Xeround, a provider of software solutions for subscriber management and high performance database systems, today announced the general availability of Xeround Version 2. The new version of Xeround's flagship product features breakthrough scalability and price performance. Xeround addresses the need for fast, reliable access to subscriber data and common data stores while delivering unparalleled total cost of ownership. To validate its industry-leading results for real-time performance and online scale-out abilities, the company also released the findings of a report using the Nokia Network Database Benchmark (NDB).
Xeround is a distributed data management system specifically tuned for subscriber-centric and real-time transactions found in next generation networks (NGN) and business support systems (BSS). It is the only solution of its kind to deliver massive and linear scalability, multi-site support with global data distribution and virtualization, continuous availability, high responsiveness, and guaranteed data integrity with native support for both Structured Query Language (SQL) and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) interfaces. Xeround is tuned for today's leading commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware solutions and requires minimal administration, resulting in dramatic improvements in total cost of ownership.
"Xeround addresses key data management challenges found in today's mostly heterogeneous networks and dramatically reduces the cost of modeling, maintaining and extending subscriber data," said Charlotte Yarkoni, chief executive officer of Xeround. "Our innovative, distributed technology enables a single, non-partitioned database image with zero partition management required. The NDB benchmark results prove that Xeround delivers unlimited scalability, both in capacity and throughput while maintaining guaranteed service levels."
About the Benchmark and Results
Designed to simulate large-scale, write-intensive, mission-critical telecom services, the NDB benchmark running on Xeround Version 2 achieved the following results:
- Breakthrough Scalability
Successfully demonstrated scaling online from 10 million subscribers on four servers, to 100 million subscribers on forty servers, with no downtime, performance degradation or transaction latency. The test supported an average client application latency of 2.17 milliseconds per transaction and confirmed the ability to grow capacity as needed with no service interruption.
- Robust Performance and Service Levels
Performance reached 114,556 qualified transactions per second (TPS), using a 320 core topology (40 servers of dual quad-core processors). Each data element was replicated three times to achieve more than 6-nines (99.9999%) of continuous availability.
- Unparalleled Cost-Effectiveness
Xeround running on a distributed heterogeneous cluster of commodity servers and switches produced an exceptionally low cost per transaction and cost per subscriber. Operating costs are also dramatically reduced due to unique self-managing, self-balancing and self-tuning capabilities.
"As providers turn to new technologies that facilitate the delivery of advanced and targeted services, Xeround's unique solution is well-positioned to eliminate the database bottlenecks that currently limit service expansion," said Arindam Banerjee, program manager in the Yankee Group's Enabling Technologies Service Provider group. "Xeround's performance in the NDB benchmark provides excellent validation of the power of the system, delivering exceptional scalability and value."
